yey elves! ~*~ Strider sighed heavely as he noticed the Hobbits had stopped, again. He turned around and found the five sitting down on the ground.
"Why have we stopped now?" Strider asked.
"We're havin' breakfast." Flora said.
"You've already had breakfast." Strider had to tell himself not to just tie them up and ride on with just Frodo.
"What about Second breakfast?" Pippin said.
"Hobbits," Strider muttered as he walked on ahead.
"I don't think he's heard of second breakfast." Frodo said getting up from the ground.
"What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? Do you think he knows about them, doesn't he?" Flora asked.
"Don't count on it, love." Merry said.
~*~
Tha night as Strider was off to look about the hobbits minus Frodo who was napping sat around a fire.
"Oh, my tomato's burst." Merry sighed.
"Could I have some bacon?" Flora asked.
"Okay, want a tomato, Sam?" Merry smiled.
"What are you doing?" Frodo yawned.
"Tomatoes, sausages, nice crispy bacon." Pippin said.
"We saved some for you, Mr. Frodo" Sam said.
"Put it out, you fools, put it out!" Frodo lept to his feet and started to stamp out the fire.
"That's nice, ash on my tomatoes." Pippin whines.
"did you hear that?" Flora asked.
They look over the edge to find the black riders comming.

Strider and the Hobbits drew their weapons and lunged into battle. While the Ranger was fairing much better, the Hobbits were getting beat up. Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Flora got pushed aside easily. Frodo dropped his weapon and backed away. Feeling the ring's pull becoming too much, he slid the gold metal. The Riders were now white and looked human. One of the them, the middle one, reached down to take the ring. Finally, with all of his strength, Frodo pulled away from the king. Outraged, the king stabbed his sword into Frodo's chest. Frodo let out a scream. ~*~*~*~ "Frodo!" Sam screamed as he saw Frodo appear as the ring was taken off his finger.
Strider chased the Riders away as Sam ran over to his friend. He turned around as he heard Sam yell for him.
"He's been stabbed with a Morgul blade. This is beyond my skill to heal. He needs elvish medicine." He picks Frodo up into his arms, who is in a lot of pain. "Hurry."
"We're six days from Rivendell! He'll never make it!"
"Hang on, Frodo." Strider whispers to the young Hobbit. Frodo, who is delirious from the pain, mumbled a word.
They hurry on their way, Frodo still mumbling incoherently. Finally, they stop at three stone figures of trolls.
"Mr. Frodo? He's going cold!" Sam yelled.
"Is he going to die?" Flora asked, scared for Frodo. Merry places an arm around her.
"He is passing into the shadow world. He will soon become a wraith like them."
Merry peers over his shoulder. "They're close!"
Strider pulls Sam closer to him. "Sam, do you know the Athelas plant?"
"Athelas?"
"Kingsfoil."
"Kingsfoil? Aye, it's a weed."
"It may help to slow the poison."
Both of them rush into the forest, while Merry, Pippin, and Flora watch over Frodo. Strider finds it first and rushes back to Frodo, only to find a blade pressed to his throat.
"What's this? A Ranger caught off his guard?" ~*~*~*~ Christina pants as she reached Rivendell. Smiling through her pants, she rushes up to meet with Elrond.
"Vedui," said Elrond. (Greetings)
"Vedui. Sut naa lle?" Christina responded fluently. (Greetings. How are you?)
"I am well," said the elf in English. "How are you, Ranger?"
"I am well as well. I come here to give you grave news, old friend." She stood up from where she knelt.
"Indeed? Does it have to do with the new movement of Orcs?"
She nodded. "Unfortunately."
They walked to his quarters in silence before beginning to speak again.
"The Council will be beginning when Gandalf returns. As well as the Hobbit who carries the Ring."
Christina paled. "The Ring is in the hands of a Hobbit? How did this happen? Last I heard, it was in Isildur's hands." ~*~*~*~

Ooh, you got there first! ~*~ Frodo sees a women as she is from the shadow world- a beautiful, glowing elf-maiden in white robes. he smiles at her slightly.
"(I'm Arwen. I've come to help you.Hear my voice. Return to the light.)" The women said in elvish.
"Who is she?" Flora asked meekly.
"Frodo." Arwen said ergently.
"She's an elf!" Sam said dreamily.
"He's fading. He's not going to last. We must get him to my father." Arwen said turning around to look at strider as he chews up some of the Kingsfoil and presses it into the wound.
"I've been looking for you for two days. There are five wraiths behind you. Where the other four are I do not know." Arwen went on ignoring the silence Strider was giving her.
"(Stay with the hobbits. I will send horses for you.)" Strider said in elvin as he lifted Frodo on to her horse.
"(I am the faster rider. I will take him.)" Arwen said sternly.
"(The road is too dangerous.)" Strider shook his head.
"What are they saying?" Merry asked trying to keep the fear out of his vioce.
"(If I can get across the river, the power of my people will protect him.) I do not fear them." Arwen said getting on to her horse behind frodo.
"(As you wish)" Strider nodded.
"Arwen, ride hard. Don't look back." Strider said sternly.
"(Ride fast, Asfaloth, ride fast!)" She said kneeing into her horse causing it to leap into a run.
"What are you doing? The wraiths are still out there!" Pippin yelled.
~*~
"I am unsure how how he lost the ring but Arwen is looking for the Hobbits now."
"Is that safe? Sending her off by her self when there are ring wraths about?" Christina asked.
"She would not wait for them to come on their own." Elrond said simply.
"She's strong willed that way." Alier said stepping into the room.
"Alier," Christina nodded to her friend.
Elrond looked up suddenly. "If you'll excusse me." He said.
The two walked out of his room and stood in the middle of Riverdell.
"I haven't seen you in a while." Alier said.
"I have been busy." Christina said simply. "How are you?"
"I'm alright." Alier said. "And You?
~*~
"(Ride fast Asfaloth!)" Arwen yells at her horse as they get to the river, she stops partway across. The Black Riders do not want to enter the river.
"Give up the halfling, she-elf!" One of the rider howls in an other worldly moan that would make any human fall to their knees and scream in dispaer.
"If you want him, come and claim him!" Arwen yells drawing her sword. (my fav part of the whole movie!)
The Black Riders draw their swords and start to cross river.
"(Waters of the Misty Mountains listen to the great word; flow waters of Loudwater against the Ringwraiths!)" Arwen starts to chant.
A flood of water washes down the riverbed, led by white horse-shapes. The Black Riders are washed away. Frodo is losing his battle. Arwen gets off her horse, lays him on the ground.
"No, Frodo! No! Frodo, don't give in! Not now!" Arwen says shaking him.
"i'm...sorry." Frodo whimpers.
"What grace is given me let it pass to him. Let him be spared. Save him." Arwen yells towards the heavens.
"(Hear my voice. Come back to the light.)" Says Elrond.

yay! Reunion time! ~*~*~*~ Christina and Alier watched as Arwen exited the room, looking exhausted.
"Arwen," said the Ranger with a smile.
"Christina," replied the elf, hugging the woman. "How have you been?"
"I've been alright. I got the biggest shock when I saw the Orcs move."
Everyone turned around when they heard someone ascend the stairs. Strider was being followed by four Hobbits, which brought out looks of amusement from Christina and Alier.
"Hobbits, Aragorn?" Alier asked, smiling at her friend. She fell in love with him years ago, only to be heartbroken when he chose Arwen. Christina was the one who comforted her during the time.
Aragorn gave her a half-hearted glare and turned his eyes to the other Ranger, who never met before.
Alier saw this and smiled. "Aragorn, son of Arathorn, meet Christina of Rohan. She is a Ranger too, but from the Rohan region."
"Pleased to meet you, Aragorn," said Christina. "I heard a lot about you from Alier and Arwen."
"I am surprised we never met before," replied Aragorn. He then turned his attention to the closed door. "How is Frodo?"
"He'll pull through," responded Arwen. "That wound will leave a terrible scar. It will be with him forever." The male Ranger shook his head sadly.
"There will be a meeting when Frodo wakes," said Christina. "I am invited to go, as you are Aragorn. We will talk about what to do with the Ring."
Everyone turned to the door to see Elrond walk out of it. ~*~*~*~ Frodo gave a groan and opened his eyes. He was in a strange room with delicate designs and soft colors.
"Where am I?" he asked.
"You are in the House of Elrond, and it is ten o'clock in the morning, on October the 24th, if you want to know." Frodo looked to where the voice spoke and saw the old wizard smiling at him.
"Gandalf?"
"Yes, I'm here. And you're lucky to be here, too. A few more hours and you would have been beyond our aid. But you have some strength in you, my dear hobbit."
Frodo sat up in his bed. "Where were you, Gandalf? Why didn't you meet us at the Prancing Pony?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, Frodo. I was delayed." The old wizard got a faraway look on his face.
Frodo became concerned. "Gandalf, what is it?"
"Nothing, Frodo." Gandalf gave him a smile and ruffled his hair.
The door opened and revealed Sam with an elf. Sam hurried over to Frodo's side, smiling happily.
"Frodo! Frodo!"
"Sam!"
"Bless you, you're awake!" The two Hobbits exchanged grins, making Gandalf smile.
"Sam has barely left your side."
"We were that worried about you, weren't we, Mr. Gandalf?"
"By the skills of Master Elrond, you're beginning to mend." He gestured toward the elf, who stepped forward.
"Welcome to Rivendell, Frodo Baggins."
Then the door opened again, this time revealing Merry, Flora, Pippin, and an older-looking Bilbo.
"Bilbo!" Frodo exclaimed, happy to see his uncle again.
"Hello Frodo, my lad!"
"Bilbo!"
Bilbo came forward and the two hugged tightly. ~*~*~*~

Going out of Cannon, woot! ~*~
"Bilbo wrote a book?" Pippin asked looking at the book Flora was holding.
"Its all those stories he used to tell all in order...mentions that ring too." Flora said handing it to Pippin.
"What are we going to do then?" Merry asked.
"What do you mean?" Pippin asked.
"You mean are we going to continue on our oh so happy quest with Frodo and the Elves?" Flora asked.
"But i thought we just had to bring the ring here." Pippin whined.
"Knowing Gandalf we'll have to go forth and take the ring to some doomed place to threw it to hell." Flora sighed laying on the grass.
"Missing the Shire?" Merry asked.
"more then anything. i never wanted to go on advantures." Flora looked over at Merry. "I wanted to get married, have babys, get old."
"Really?" Pippin asked while Merry had a slight coughing fit.
"Its what all hobbits want." Flora rolled her eyes at Merry. "I don't want it this moment."
"Sam!" Merry said jumping off the grass to get out of talking about Marrige with Flora. "Where you off to?"
"I'm packing." Sam said.
"Why?" Merry asked.
"We're going home soon, aren't we?" Sam said as if Merry was slow.
"You sure?" Merry asked.

yay for going out of canon! ~*~*~*~ "I mean, we've delivered the ring this far. What else are we needed here for?"
"I thought you wanted to see the elves, Sam," said Frodo.
"I do."
Fiona smiled. "You're right, Sam."
"Yeah. We did what we set out to do. The Ring will be safe in Rivendell. I am ready to go home." The Hobbits shared a smile. ~*~*~* Gandalf and Elron were overlooking the Hobbits as they talked.
"His strength returns," muttered Elrond.
"But he will carry that wound for the rest of his life," said Gandalf.
"And yet to have come so far still bearing the Ring, the hobbit has shown extraordinary resilience to its evil."
Gandalf looked to his elven friend. "It is a burden he should never have had to bear. We can ask no more of Frodo."
"Gandalf, the Enemy is moving. Sauron's forces are massing in the East, as I am told by our young female Ranger. His Eye is fixed on Rivendell. And Saruman, you tell me, has betrayed us. Our list of our allies grows thin."
"His treachery runs deeper than you know. By foul craft, Saruman has crossed orcs with goblin-men. He's breeding an army in the caverns of Isengard. An army that can move in sunlight, and cover great distances at speed. Saruman is coming for the Ring."
"This evil cannot be concealed by the power of the elves. We do not have the strength to fight both Mordor and Isengard. Gandalf, the Ring cannot stay here."
Gandalf went silent for a second. Their attention went to the entrance of Rivendell, where members of different species were arriving.
Elrond turned back to the wizard. "This peril belongs to all Middle-Earth, and they must decide now how to end it. The time of elves is over. My people are leaving these shores. Who will you look to when we're gone? The dwarves? They hide in their mountains seeking riches. They care not for the troubles of others."
"It is in men that we must place our hope."
Elrond snorted. "Men? Men are weak. The race of men is fading. The blood of Numenor is all but spent, its pride and dignity forgotten. It is because of men the Ring survives. I was there, Gandalf. I was there, three thousand years ago, when Isildur took the ring. I was there when the day the strength of men failed. It should have ended that day, but evil was allowed to endure. Isildur kept the Ring. The line of Kings is broken. There is no strength left in the world of men. They are scattered, divided, leaderless."
"There is one who could unite them. Who could reclaim the throne of Gondor."
"He turned from that path a long time ago. He has chosen exile."

"Are you comming to the councile?" Alier asked Christina as the watched from far away Strider and Arwen embrass.
"Yes," Christina wrapped and arm around Alier.
"They really are in love, aren't they? "Alier sighed.
"They seem to be." Christina sighed.
"...do you think he'll embrass his destiny?" Alier asked.
"Only he knows that." Christina answered.
~*~
A council is gathered of men, elfs, dwarfs, and Frodo. He sat between Two women who Gandalf had introduced as Christina and Alier.
"Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You've been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom. Bring forth the ring, Frodo." Elrond said as he sat on his great chair.
Frodo puts the ring on the stand in the center of the council, and seems much relieved to be rid of it. People start whispering.
"So it is true." Boromir whispered."It is a gift, a gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use this Ring? Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of my people are your lands kept safe. Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him."
"You cannot wield it. None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master." Strider said.
"And what would a ranger know of this matter?" Boromir sneered.
"This is no mere ranger. He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance." An elf named Legols said standing.
"Aragorn? This is Isildur's heir?" Bobomir looked at strider.
"And heir to the throne of Gondor." Legolas said nodding.
"(Sit down, Legolas.)" Strider/Aragon said.
"Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king." Boromir muttered.
"Aragorn is right. We cannot use it." Gandalf said.

(psst...I would like to keep Boromir alive in this RPG.. he's mine! lol) ~*~*~*~ Christina was beginning to feel that the man named Boromir was very rude. Sure, he was handsome, but stubborn. Then again, most Men are.
"It must be destroyed," she spoke up. "If any one of us bears this evil on our fingers, it will be easy for Him to find us."
Elrond nodded. "I agree with her." He gave her a fond look.
An dwarf, by the name of Gimli, stood up, axe at the ready. "Then what are we waiting for?"
He marched up to the Ring and hits it. Frodo gave a small convulse as the Eye flashed in his mind's eye. Alier and Christina grabbed a shoulder, as if to steady him. When he regained his bearings, he saw the dwarf's axe shattered to pieces.
The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor, and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you must do this." Elrond spoke calmly.
Silence fell upon the Council. Christina paled dramatically then put a shaky hand to her face. Alier came from out of her seat to comfort her friend.
"(It's alright, my friend.)" she spoke softly, not knowing everyone was staring at them. The Ranger gave a nod before gathering herself together. Then Boromir gave a snort.
"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the great eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly."
"Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ring must be destroyed!" Legolas exclaimed.
Gimli guffawed. "And I suppose you think you're the one to do it?"
"And if we fail, what then? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?" Boromir spoke up, anger tinged in his voice.
"I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an elf! Never trust an elf!"
The elves stood up and Legolas stood up as well, only to block the elves from attacked Gimli. Everyone started arguing, except for Frodo, Alier, and Christina.
The Ring spoke in Frodo's mind, muttering words he never heard before. Then, with the courage he had never found before, he stood up.
"I will take it!"
No one seemed to hear him.
"Frodo..." said Alier softly, her eyes staring at him sadly.
"I will take it!" Frodo shouted again.
Silence fell upon the Council once more as everyone turned their disbelieving glances to the Hobbit.
"I will take the Ring to Mordor," Frodo spoke, his voice much quieter. "Though, I don't know the way."
Alier and Christina squeezed his hands reassuringly.
"We will go with you, young Frodo," spoke Alier. "We may not be the best navigators, but we can help."
Gandalf wandered over to the small group with a smile.
"I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, for as long as it is yours to bear." He placed a hand on his shoulders, nodding to the Human and Ranger.
Aragorn stepped forward. "If by my life or death I can protect you, I will." He kneeled before the Hobbit. "You have my sword."
"And you have my bow," replied Legolas.
"And MY axe," growled Gimli, walking forward to join the group.
Boromir stood up, looking around at the companions. "You carry the fate of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the council, then Gondor will see it done." He gave a small smile.
"Hah!"
Sam broke free of the bushes and ran to Frodo.
"Mr. Frodo's not goin anywhere without me."
"No, indeed, it is hardly possible to separate the two of you, even when he is summoned to a secret council and you are not," spoke Elrond. Sam gave a little blush, but still stood his ground.
Merry, Pippin, and Flora joined the Hobbits, surprising the entire Council. Alier, Gandalf, and Christina were shaking their heads in amusement.
"Wait! We're coming, too! You'd have to send us home tied up in a sack to stop us!" Merry exclaimed. Flora gave an apraising look to her boyfriend.
"Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission... quest... thing." Pippin piped up. Flora gave the back of his head a good smack.
"Well, that rules you out, Pip."
Elrond's eyes raked over the large group. "Twelve companions. So be it. You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring."
"Great. Where are we going?" Pippin asked. Flora smacked him again as Alier and Christina burst out in laughter. Gandalf merely gave them amused looks. ~*~*~*~*

my muse woke up this morning. yay! ~*~*~*~ Alier and Christina took a stroll around the crystal lake, each lost in her own thoughts. "(I can't believe I am willing to go to Mordor,)" replied Christina in Elvish. "(Last time I was there..)" Alier placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "(You will not be alone this time. Besides, if any Orc or otherworldly creatures attempts to attack you, I will hurt them.)" The Ranger smiled. "(Thanks.)" "Why aren't you two packing?" a male voice asked, making them jump. Boromir was sitting on a rock, staring at the girls. "We are already packed," replied Alier, gathering her bearings. "And what about you, soldier from Gondor?" The man simply laughed. "I, like you, are already packed. Don't have much with me anyway." Boromir then glanced to the female Ranger. "And what was the whole ordeal with you flinching at the hearing of Mordor?" "It's none of your business," she said calmly. "In time I will tell you, once I have your trust and you have mine." "Rangers." He snorted. "Don't really believe in anyone until they have trust going both ways." ~*~*~*(I'm just going to skip Bilbo's gifts to Frodo. Frodo will still have them, but I won't mention it. Just like we didn't mention a few things. )~*~*~*~ The Fellowship had departed a few days ago from Rivendell. They had climbed mountains, hills, and ran through the golden fields. Now they were resting near a rock formation. Boromir was teaching Merry, Pippin, and Flora how to wield a weapon, with Aragorn watching. The others were scattered around the area. Legolas and Alier were talking in Elvish, Gandalf was scanning the area, Gimli was sitting down by the fire, Frodo and Sam were talking, and Christina was perched on a rock overlooking the vast green lands. Her falcon, Brenna, had shown up the other day. Aragorn glanced up at her. "Why don't you come down and watch?" She looked down at him. "Oh, no, I'm fine up here." "You sure?" "Yeah." "'Anyone was to ask for my opinion, which I note they're not, I'd say we were taking the long way 'round! Gandalf, we could pass through the Mines of Moria. My cousin Balin would give us a royal welcome." Gimli replied. "No, Gimli, I would not take the road through Moria unless I had no other choice," Gandalf responded. They turned to see Merry, Pippin, and Flora attacking Boromir to the ground. The man was laughing as they did so, making the other smile too. Christina stroked Brenna's chest feathers before catching the sight of something. She notices that Legolas and Alier do so too. "What is that?" Sam asked, pointing to the black mass in the sky. "Nothing, it's just a wisp of cloud." The dwarf said. Everyone looks up. Boromir squints. "It's moving fast, against the wind." "Crebain from Dunland!" Legolas called. "Hide!" cried Aragorn. Christina leapt gracefully from her rock and pressed against another rock, concealing herself. Brenna perched by her hair. Crebains! Nasty, vicious beings! she cried. Shh, Brenna. They can hear us, you know, replied the Ranger. Aragorn looked to her in amazement before gathering his attention to the mass of black birds. They circled the area, cawing, and left the area as quickly as they came. They all got up from their hiding places. "Spies of Saruman. The passage south is being watched. We must take the pass of Caradhras." They started to pack their things when a loud bark sounded. Christina smiled as she saw the familiar form of Raul. Raul! You made it, I see. What of the others?Raul gave a delightful growl as she petted him. Most agreed to help our cause. They are stationing themselves amongst different cities. He glanced around at the others. And I see you managed to get yourself into a mission too."You can talk to animals?" Flora asked, her eyes wide. Christina's smile widened. "Not to all animals, per say, but I can speak to them." She stood up. "Some cities will be protected against the Orcs, should they attack." ~*~*~* The companions journeyed up the snowy mountains. Christina had taken out a furred jacket for herself, as she was not dressed for the cold weather. Frodo slipped and rolled down the hill. Aragorn helps him up and they notice that the Ring had slipped from the Hobbit and lay in the snow. Boromir picks it up. "It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing." "Boromir! Give the Ring to Frodo," warned the male Ranger. Boromir hands it back. "As you wish. I care not." He ruffles Frodo's hair and continues forward. Aragorn breathed a sigh and released his hand from his sword. Christina's hand also slipped from her bow and arrow. ~*~*~*~ see... nice long update! yay! Thank you Rachel for waking up. Rachel: *grumble* no problem

Rachel may not be awake right now, but I shall update again! ~*~*~*~ As the group of companions climbed further up the mountain, the snow grew deeper. Legolas was the only one who could walk on top of the snow while the others struggled through it. Eventually the snow got too deep for the Hobbits and some of the group carried the five.
Legolas' ears twitch. "There is a fell voice on the air!"
"It's Saruman!" cried Gandalf.
Above them, rocks and snow fell upon the twelve.
"He's trying to bring down the mountain! Gandalf, we must turn back!" Aragorn yelled.
But Gandalf paid no attention. He attempted to stop the storm, but it was too much. More snow fell upon them. They all pressed against the rock wall, hoping not to get hit with the rocks. Soon the avalanche stopped, leaving the Fellowship buried in snow. One by one, they uncovered themselves.
"We must get off the mountain! Make for the Gap of Rohan and take the west road to my city!" Boromir exclaimed.
"The Gap of Rohan takes us too close to Isengard!" Christina yelled back at him. "Rohan is my home, so trust me on this!"
"If we cannot pass over the mountain, let us go under it! Let us go through the Mines of Moria." Gimli replied.
Gandalf pauses. There wasn't many choices, and each had their own disadvantages. No matter where they would go, they would have to face some agent of evil.
"Let the Ringbearer decide. Frodo?" Gandalf asked. Everyone turned to Frodo, who shifted uncomfortably in Aragorn's arms.
"We will go through the mines," he decided.
"So be it." ~*~*~*~* They reached the outside of Moria, which was all rock.
"The Walls of Moria." Gimli said.
The group edges around the large lake by the wall. Frodo's foot slips in, which he jerks out from the dark water.
"Now let's see... Ithildin. It mirrors only starlight and moonlight." Gandalf mutters. The moon slips out and shows a door, along with writing in elvish.
"It reads, The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak friend and enter."
"What do you suppose that means?" Merry asked.
"Oh, it's quite simple! If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open." ~*~*~*~ While Gandalf tries, and fails, to open the doors, Aragorn and Sam let the pony go. Merry and Pippin throw rocks into the water, only to stop when Aragorn yelled at them.
"Do not disturb the water!"
Gandalf perches himself down on a rock, muttering. Alier and Christina were practicing their sword techniques, with Boromir watching. Flora watches too, intrigued.
Then Frodo looks up at the words written in elvish and gives a gasp. "It's a riddle. Speak "friend" and enter! What's the Elvish word for friend?"
"Mellon." responds Gandalf.
The walls split open to reveal a dark passage. Everyone gets up and enters through the doors.
"Soon, Master elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the dwarves! Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone! This, my friend, is the home of my cousin Balin. And they call it a mine. A mine!" Gimli said, chuckling slightly.
"It's no mine; it's a tome," responds Boromir, glancing around at the skeletons of dwarfs. Christina gave a squeak as she accidently stepped on one and jumps into Boromir's arms. They glance up at each other before blushing and pulling apart.
Gimli runs forward. "No!"
Legolas pulls an arrow from the skeleton nearest him. "Goblins!" he called in disgust.
"We make for the Gap of Rohan! We should never have come here! Now, get out! Get out!" Boromir yells out.
Suddenly, something slick grabs Frodo's foot and jerks him toward the lake.
"Frodo!" the Hobbits screamed. They attempt to cut the tentacle from Frodo when several more push the Hobbits aside.
"Strider!" Sam yells.
Aragorn and Boromir run out to cut Frodo free while the others watch. Legolas, Alier, and Christina shoot arrows from the lakeshore. Finally, Boromir catches Frodo as he is released.
"Into the Mines!" Gandalf lead the group deeper into the mines. Aragorn, Boromir, Christina, Alier, and Legolas got in just in time to see the kraken attempt to get into the mines. The walls crumble, leaving them all in darkness.
"We now have but one choice. We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard! There are older and fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world. Quietly now. It is a four day journey to the other side. Let us hope our presence may go unnoticed." Gandalf said. ~*~*~*~ more is coming. just hold on a sec.

yay! Rachel is awake!
Rachel: No need to be so excited. And please keep your voice down! ~*~*~*~ The Fellowship continues through the mines. Raul and Brenna are still with Christina as they journeyed further. Every now and then, Flora pets Raul, making him growl in delight.
"He likes that," said the female Ranger with a smile.
"How long have you had them?" Flora asked.
Christina gives a sigh. Everyone is listening as they walk along. "Ever since I left my city."
"Why did you leave?"
Her eyes grow dark as she remembers. "My parents never really liked me much. To them, the only use I was to them was for money. They traded me for money and other goods. Much less to say, I was abused, broken, raped. When I was old enough, I fled. I lived in some mountains near Isengard, far from my city."
Alier put a hand on her friend's arm.
"So, in some sense, you were a slave," spoke Boromir.
"If you put it that way, yes." She raked a hand through her hair. "I met Alier long before I left. She was my only friend at the time, before I raised Raul and Brenna."
Silence grew again as they plowed forth. ~*~*~*~ "I have no memory of this place." Gandalf spoke softly.
Everyone sat down on some rocks as the wizard tries to remember where he was. Boromir sat next to the female Ranger, who was stroking Brenna's chest feathers.
"Were your parents Rangers too?" he asks.
Christina nodded. "Dunedain is the more proper word for it." She snorts. "Funny, really. I was eighteen when I ran away. Now..."
Alier gave a giggle. "It actually is funny. Now she's well into her early seventies."
"Not many of the Dunedain still live," replies Aragorn.
"I know," said Christina. "I spent about sixty years hiding away from my city."
"Then how come your animals are not dead?" Flora asked curiously.
"That I cannot tell you, young Flora." She ruffles her hair before turning her silver eyes back to the floor.
"Are we lost?" Pippin asks.
"No." Mery replies.
"I think we are lost." Some of the Fellowship tries to hide their smiles.
"Shh... Gandalf's thinking."
"Merry?"
"What?"
"I'm hungry." ~*~*~*~ Frodo sees something down in dark depths of the mines.
"There's something down there."
Gandalf turns slightly toward Frodo. "It's Gollum."
"Gollum?"
"He's been following us for three days."
"He escaped from the dungeons of Barad Dur?"
"Escaped? Or set loose? He hates and loves the Ring, as he hates and loves himself. He will never be rid of his need for it."
"It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance."
"Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum still has a part to play yet, for good or ill. Before this is over, the pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."
Frodo looks down at the mine floors. "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in the world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought." He then glances up, smiling. "It's that way." ~*~*~*~*~ there... that shall jog your writing skills, I hope. And so begins the beginning of Boromir/Christina's relationship. Yay!
Rachel: I thought you liked Aragorn or Faramir?
*blushes* I like all three of them... but I picked Boromir.
Rachel: for you, I would have chosen Faramir, but oh well.

It did wake the muse up. ;D ~*~
"He's remembered!" Merry said happily.
"No, but the air smells less foul down here. If in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose. Let me risk a little more light." Gandalf motions to Alier and they both brightened their staff showing a grandiose hall of stone, lined with tall pillars and arched ceilings as far as the eye can see. Every reacts with awe.
"Behold! The great realm of the dwarf city of Dwarrowdelf." Alier said with a smile.
"Well, there's an eye-opener and no mistake" Sam said.
"i don't like it." Flora said shifting closer to Merry. "Why isn't there anyone here?"
"I'm sure there is someone here..." Merry said gulping loudly.
"Haugh!" Gimli runs to a door with light behinmd it.
"Gimli!" Gandalf yelled running after him making The others follow, they find Gimli grieving over a tomb. Gandalf reads the dwarven runes on the top of the tomb.
"Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria. He is dead then. It's as I feared." Gandalf sighed.
"What is it?" Alier asked looking around worriedly. Christina picked up a book held by a skeleton leaning against the tomb and hands it to Alier.
"We must move on. We cannot linger." Christina said to Arragon looking around. "This place reeks of death."
"They have taken the bridge, and the second hall. We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes. Drums, drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming..." Alier looks up from the book. "Gandulf does this mean what I think?"
Pippin, Flora and Merry move away from Tomb. flora looked around seeing other skeletons and grabbed on to Merry. Pippin knocks a skeleton into the well, which makes a little more than enough noise to wake the dead.
"Fool of a Took! Throw yourself in, next time, and rid us of your stupidity!" Gandalf yelled.
"It was an accident!" Flora said glaring at the wizard.
"Shh. Little Hobbit.' Christina whispered. There is a pause where it seems they might not have been heard, then drums start pounding. Frodo'S sword is glowing blue.
"Mr. Frodo!" Sam yelled.
"Orcs!" alier and legolas say at the same time.
" The door!"Boromir checks the door as two arrows nearly hit him. christina rushes to his aid and shuts the door.
"Get back! Stay close to Gandalf" Alier yelled at the Hobbits as Arragon draws his sword.
"They have a cave troll." Christina said.

Everyone began to baracade the door with the weapons of the fallen dwarfs. The Hobbits hung back, their eyes wandering all over. They were not prepared for war.
"Fall back," said Alier, ushering them a little further back while the others pulled out their weapons. Frodo unsheathed his sword and noticed it was glowing blue.
"Orcs!" shouted Legolas.
The doors began to pulse as if it was a heart. Then it burst open, revealing legions of Orcs. Alier, Christina, and Legolas shot arrows at the creatures as the others, including the Hobbits, launched themselves into the mass.
Suddenly, the wall gave way to the cave troll. It swung its club at the tomb where Gimli was standing, misses the dwarf but smashes the tomb. Legolas climbs up the creature's arm as it attempted to him him as well. The elf shoots three arrows into its head. The troll groans loudly, but still manages to stand.
Christina had abandoned her arrows and took out her sais. Alier stood by her side, her own arrows killing those far off to stop the large flow of Orcs. ~*~*~*~ Frodo gave out a yell as the cave troll manages to grab hold of his feet.
"Aragorn! Aragorn!" he screams, dangling upside down.
"Frodo!" Then the young Hobbit fell to the ground, watching the Ranger attempt to stab the troll with a spear. The massive creature tosses Aragorn out of the way and heads toward Frodo again. ~*~*~*~ that's all for now..g2g.
