Reunion
written by Mistress Wisewings
Summary: A Twilight fic. Edward Cullens and Alexandra Rider were friends once upon a time until the Cullens moved away. When they come back to Alex's hometown, their attraction for each other escalates to further proportions.
Reunion
Alexandra shifted from foot to foot in the hallway of her home, sending the front door nervous glances. Her sisters, Jessica and Lindsay Rider, snickered, sharing knowing glances with each other. They knew who their sister was waiting for.
"What time did Carlisle say they were coming again?" Alex asked, looking down at her watch.
"Eight o'clock," Jessica recited. "I'm surprised you didn't remember that part of the call. You only had it memorised yesterday."
"You should calm down," Lindsay said quietly, leaning against the doorframe into the living room. Her vibrant red hair curled around her jaw line and her amber eyes were fixed on the younger triplet. "Take a couple deep breaths."
The younger Rider growled and she looked at her watch. 7:58. She started to pace in front of the door now. "Any minute."
Lindsay let out a sigh and turned to the older triplet. "Jess, I'm going to head upstairs to work on my essay for class. Let me know when dinner is ready."
Jessica nodded and the middle triplet headed upstairs. The older girl turned her amber gaze to Alex and she sighed. "Take Lindsay's advice, love, and calm down. They still have the entire night to be here."
Alex ran a hand through her dark brown hair and blew out a breath. "I know, Jess. It's just..."
The older girl knew what her sister was saying. "You are anxious to see Edward."
She blushed. "Yeah. I was worried when I got the call that he fell into a depression from when Bella died."
Jessica scoffed. "That was years ago. He seems better now. Jasper told me that he looked forward to every letter you sent him."
"As did I," Alex murmured, taking Lindsay's old spot and her dark blue eyes stayed locked on the door. "As did I." She turned to look at her older sister. "How's Jacob?"
Jess shrugged. "He's as fine as can be. Jake's currently running with Sam and the others. And after we hook you up with Edward, we can work on Lindsay."
Alex laughed. "That's gonna be interesting to do."
The older triplet grinned. "Not really. Lately, she's been eyeing Quil."
"From Sam's pack?" A grin spread on the younger girl's face.
"From Sam's pack."
The girls laughed but were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. Alex leapt forward and jerked the door open, revealing the entire Cullens family.
"Alexandra!" Esme exclaimed, rushing forward to hug the younger girl.
"Esme!" Alex said, smiling widely. Her eyes roamed over the rest of the group, stopping at the sight of her long-time crush.
Edward still looked the same, and always would. He seemed paler, making the purplish-black bags under his eyes stand out further, but still looked good.
"Alexandra," he greeted and Alex could feel a blush form on her face. Gods, his voice did amazing things to her hormones.
It wasn't until the hugs were finished that Alex noticed that Jessica left. In fact, everyone but her and Edward left for the living room. Lindsay had come downstairs already and sat down next to Rosalie.
"How are you?" Alex asked softly, crossing her arms in front of her.
"Alright." His liquid gold eyes looked into her blue eyes. "How are you?"
"Fine. Jess and I have been brainstorming how to get Lindsay a boyfriend."
Edward smirked. "Good luck on that one. Lindsay is quite stubborn when she wants to be. Does she have any crushes?"
"Yeah, but you wouldn't like it." When he gave her a curious look, she gave in. "She likes Quil."
His eyes darkened a little. None of Sam's pack or the Cullens have ever been friends, even after the loss of Isabella Swan.
"Hmm."
The two remained silent, staring at each other, trying to capture as much of the other as possible. Alex felt her breath hitch when she felt the air around her become electrified and her body felt strangely warm.
"How long will you be here?"
Edward shrugged. "As long as need be. I don't have any kind of schooling I wish to pursue at the moment. I like to travel, see different sights."
"Yeah," Alex sighed. When she looked up from looking down at her nails, the vampire had moved closer, making the air become more charged. His eyes seemed to be glowing brighter.
"I have something to confess, Alexandra," he whispered, reaching a hand out to tuck a lock of hair behind her shoulder. His hand ached to touch her body, to caress it gently. When she glanced curiously at him, he took in a breath. "I have never felt as happy in my life as I have when I am around you. You make my day much brighter. You were the one to pull me out of my depression after..." He swallowed. "I just... I need to say.... that I am in love with you, Alex. I can't imagine myself not being with you."
Alex inhaled sharply as Edward stepped closer until their lips were just an inch away from each other. She didn't care that his cold body was nearly pressed against hers. In fact, she preferred his cooler body. She reached out a shaking hand to touch his hard chest through his shirt. She swallowed and looked back up at the older boy.
Edward smiled before closing the remaining distance and his icy lips touched Alex's warm ones. They both let out a low moan at the tingle of electricity that shot through their bodies. Alex moved her lips slightly and smiled when she felt movement in return.
The kiss was gradually getting heated until they heard wolf-whistles and cat-calls from the living room. Edward pulled away, chuckling, while Alex growled.
"Shut up," she snarled, sending the others into a fit of laughter. Lindsay, the only one other than the couple that wasn't laughing, sent her a wink and a smile.
