Pain and Longing
A one-shot fic written by Mistress Wisewings
Summary: Set in Strife (book 9). Hunter's view when he, Erin, and Sky bound Morgan's powers to help her. POV done in 3rd person.
Note: You don't have to read the Sweep series to get the story. If you wished, you could read it (it's 15 books and is finished). It's awesome. Also, some of this doesn't exactly occur with the scene I chose and I don't care. hehe ^^

Hunter felt sick and disgusted as he helped bind Morgan's powers. He knew that in no way possible was Morgan, his love and soul mate, responsible for what was happening in Widow's Vale. But, the Seeker part of him agreed with what Erin was doing, no matter how much it hurt. Sometimes you had to go with what you had.
It broke Hunter's heart to see Morgan look so... helpless after the spell was cast. She lay on the floor, trembling and pale. He reached down to help her but she pushed him away, not looking at him. He knew he deserved that but it still hurt. The young Seeker wanted to scream in frustration and hurt.
Morgan attempted to get herself up, avoiding even Erin and Sky's help. The two women barely disguised their own hurt but let her get up.
"This is only temporary, Morgan," Erin said to the young witch. "Before you know it, you'll be casting spells again and attending circles."
"Okay." Even Morgan's voice sounded broken, lost.
Hunter felt the urge to go to her, to help her through her pain but knew it would be useless. Still...
As Morgan walked away, Hunter couldn't help but utter her name. He hated how broken he sounded. She turned around to glance at him. He put his hand on her shoulder when he wanted to do more, to pull her into his arms. "Be careful."
She nodded and left the house. Hunter felt as if his very soul was with her, leaving feeling empty and cold. He ran his hand roughly through his blonde hair, feeling the telltale prickle of tears in his eyes. Goddess, he felt so bad about doing that to Morgan. She was gifted with Wicca, considering that both her parents were powerful Woodbane witches. It seemed so wrong to all of a sudden bind it so she couldn't use it. Hell, in a sense, it also took Hunter away from Morgan.
"Hunter?" Sky, his cousin, murmured. Erin was cleaning up the mess on the floor. "Are you alright?"
"Should I be, Sky?" Hunter muttered. "Should I be alright to have helped participate in binding Morgan's powers? Did you even see the look she gave me after I said yes?" He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to hold back his tears. "She felt so betrayed."
"But she will have her powers back," Sky insisted. "We just want to be sure that it isn't Morgan who is doing this."
The young Seeker collapsed down on the sofa. "I know. It's just..." He looked up at her, his emotions glittering clearly in his green eyes. Sky gasped, feeling shaken. "Will Morgan still trust me, after this? She's everything to me, Sky. She's my other half, my murin beatha dan, my soul mate. I can't live without her. I couldn't even stand to be without her at my side. You remember how I was when she broke up with me after the fiasco in New York." He rubbed his eyes, already feeling the tears escaping from their prison.
Goddess, he thought desperately, please guide and help me. Help and guide Morgan as well. Please help me keep her safe.
