Summery: Adel had never been good at having willpower.
Adel had never been good at willpower. If he was hungry, he found a willing victim. When he was bored, he watched Tv. When he was lonely he'd wake Jocelyn up from her sleep and make her watch movies with him. And when old friends came to visit speaking of certain doom he'd leave Jocelyn's home after she'd fallen asleep and run all the way back to California. He stood outside the house that he'd grown up in unwilling now to enter. He could see Jocelyn's dreams in his mind and it made him pause on the lawn.
For a moment, he sees her as she is – a petite goth, a sympathetic nurse patiently taking care of an 'invalid'. He'd always thought of her as his spastic sister with dreadful fashion sense. He could see his old room, the room she had been in a year ago, in a black Lolita dress with spaghetti straps and long, lace gloves, begging him not to go on a trip into the wilderness of Europe. He had been the brightest student in their school. He spent his life trying to be better, different then his sister. He had needed to be alone, to figure out who he really was. His sister was easier to define: she is Jocelyn Whitman, young (just two or three minuets after him), patient (though she can be pushy sometimes) and caring (but always said what needed to be said). Who was Adel? Well, he supposed thats what had drawn him to Him that night in the pub. He had such a presence that spoke of what and who he was that Adel envied him with out reason.
i can't shake this feeling from my head.
there's a devil sleeping in my bed.
“He doesn't know where you lived.” Adel said out loud dangerously hoping he was right as he entered the house silently. His Master had a gift that was rare even among their kind. He could simply request something of someone and they felt no control but to do what he had asked. All he needed was eye contact. It had excited and frightened Adel at first. Now as he stood in what had once been a brilliantly white living room stained in blood he felt nothing but fear. “What have you done...”
watching you from across the way.
i cannot make this feeling go away
Adel walked through the house finding blood, in a haphazard manner that was distinctly His style. There was police tape stung about the room in a unpleasant manner. Adel was hyperventilating even though he didn't need to breath. He knew he should run back to Jocelyn. Adel could already tell his change was affecting her. She was as fast, and strong as he was. Her eyes even had a slight tint of red if you looked close enough. He cruelly was her twin, everything he was passed to her. He felt like a leech to take advantage of her kindness like this and he considers getting his own apartment. If he could get himself to find a job. Or move back to the coven. Back to Him. . As of its own free will his hand picks up the phone in the kitchen and dialed a number and put the receiver against his ear.
i know it's not the right thing.
and I know it's not the good thing.
but kinda i want to.
“Leave a message after the beep!” The answering machine replied cheerfully to him in his own voice after the third ring. The time was right, He normally went out to feed around this time.
i'm not sure of what i should do.
when every thought i'm thinking of is you.
“I...I want you to understand this isn't what I want. I didn't plan this.” Adel took a beep breath tracing the name burned into the skin on his neck. “I know your angry with me. But if you want to punish me, punish me.”
all of my excuses turn to lies.
maybe God will cover up his eyes
Adel's breath caught as an odd sound went through the phone. There was a soft chuckle and Adel had trouble moving. His brain screamed to slam the phone down and run, flee before He said anything.
“Now Adel, haven't I taught you anything? Never go for the kill, when you can go for the pain.” His voice sounded just how Adel remembered it. Slow, stead, cold, collected with the barest hint of a German accent.
i know it's not the right thing.
and I know it's not the good thing.
but kinda i want to.
“Y-you...” Adel couldn't think, couldn't move.
“It's only a matter of time before the coven members who I sent to look for you return to me, Adel. Obviously you sensed one of them.” He sounded proud and Adel tried to suppress the joy that tried to filter through his brain. “I always admired how your brain worked, Geliebter*.”
why does it have to be this way?
“If you want....” Adel slammed his fist into the counter top just to distract his mind. “When I decide to return, I will.”
“Such independence, Adel.” He laughed, and Adel could almost feel his lips against His lips tracing the name on his neck. “I wonder whose been teaching you that.”
“I have little chores to attend to.” Adel said bitterly trying to will himself to hang up the phone.
why does it have to be?
“I want to help you in this.” He said softly. “Just return to me and I can clear whatever misgivings you have about your life away.”
“You killed my family for no other reason then to frighten me!” Adel growled into the phone trying hard not to crush it with his hand.
“I didn't kill all of your family.” Adel felt his anger fade as soon as the words registered in his mind. “Your sister still lives, doesn't she?”
why does it have to be this way?
“...Leave Jocelyn out of this.”
“Its only a matter of time before I track down where she's run to,Geliebter.” Adel could hear the smile on his voice. “And now you have a real problem, don't you? Run to protect your other half or flee from her to keep her safe. But what you really wonder is whether or not that will deter me, correct?”
kinda i want to.
“Be reasonable.” Adel heard himself plead but he wasn't sure he'd said it.
“Mmm, reason is something I lack, you said so your self when you fled from me.” He growled into the phone causing Adel to feel a shiver to run down his spin.“Just come back and this will all be over.”
“You murder my family.”
“If you want me to repent of my ways I can surely try.” There was a promise there in His voice. Adel felt heat rush his body and start to build near his stomach. Visions of Him repenting to Adel... “Just return to me.”
maybe just for tonight.
we can pretend it's alright.
“...Give me another week, please.” Adel said softly. “Just a little more time.”
“I'm not good at waiting.” He warned.
“Whatever I am to you is worth waiting seven days.” Adel hated the sound of his voice as he begged.
what's the price i pay.
i don't care what they say.
“Seven days, on the dot.” His voice was distant as if restraining something. “If your not here within that time...”
i want to.
“It should be over by then.” Part of Adel wanted so badly to please Him that he would have served Jocelyn on a silver plate. But he still had enough sense to know he could never let anything happen to his sister. It had to be her choice.
i want to.
“I will be very unforgiving if your not back, Geliebter.” He sounded calm and almost glad. “I would hate for anything unnecessary to happen.”
“I..understand.” Adel said feeling as if the earth went cold when he heard the line go dead. There were a thousand thoughts running through his mind. If he could convince Jocelyn to except the gift it'd be easier...but if she didn't he'd have to go to someone else to keep her safe.
i'll take my chance tonight
