we all do something like that sometime. *sigh* since I am not tired yet, I figured that I would update. ------------- Kelsey and Taylor continued to talk until another Silverback came their way. He had dark blonde hair and bright green eyes.
"Hey Tay," the Silverback greeted.
Taylor brightened. "Hey Carver! Carver, this is Kelsey, our newest member. Kelsey, this is Carver Xavier, a shapeshifter."
Carver bowed, grinning. "Nice to finally see a new face. I'm a senior this year. My nickname is Viper."
Kelsey smiled. "Really?"
As Carver bowed again, she gasped when she saw his form shift swiftly, growing smaller and thinner. Before she could blink again, a viper took up Carver's spot.
"That's awesome," she whispered, looking awed. She had never been afraid of snakes.
"Also, another thing we can do is communicate mentally with other shapeshifters, as long as we think of their name. All you have to do is think Carver's name and send a thought at him. Go ahead and try it."
"Now?" she asked.
Taylor nodded. Kelsey took in a breath and looked down at the viper, thinking of his name. Carver, can you hear me?
Yes I can, sweetling, came Carver's voice in her head.
She jumped. "Sweet Jesus."
The viper made a sound that sounded like a laugh. Taylor, we need to teach her several things, he sent to the both of them.
What things? Kelsey asked, sending to the other shapeshifters.
Taylor chuckled. You'll find out. I at least have another year left, unlike Carver here.
And many of the others too, Carver replied, shifting back and taking a seat on the bench. A good half of our people. For some odd reason, we aren't getting as many weres or shifters as we usually do. Our school is being dominated by magic-users, vampires, and demons.
That should change, Kelsey said. ---------------

ok.... something has come across my mind. It is only a small scene, really. ------------- The three Silverback members continued to talk, the boys talking more than Kelsey. She was far too interested in what they were talking about.
"And she even flirted with Kevin and he just went on talking like normal."
Carver laughed. "Meridian does not understand that he is not interested in her, no matter how in love she is with him."
"Who is this Meridian?" Kelsey asked.
Taylor snickered. "A mermaid in Bluesky. She's a sophomore and thinks all men should bow before her."
"How silly," the young Silverback commented.
"And let's not forget about old George too," Carver replied, a huge grin on his face.
The horse shifter guffawed. "Oh yes. One of our favorites to talk about." He leaned closer to Kelsey, grinning. "See, George is an incubus. He's a senior this year and thinks he can charm the pants off of anyone he can. Women..."
"Men," Viper added.
"Shifters."
"Vamps."
"And anything else," Taylor finished.
Kelsey giggled. "Then I must stay far away from this fellow, eh?"
"Especially now that Mitch has his eyes set on you."
The viper shifter looked intrigued. "Really? Mitch finally has been whipped?"
Kelsey choked as Taylor laughed heartily. "I do not have him whipped," she cried out.
Carver winked. "You know what I mean, sweetheart." ------------- just some good old fashioned fun.

Roran sank back into the padded seat and pressed a hand against his chest. The hollow ache in his heart was still there, and no matter how hard he pushed, he couldn't seal the gaping wound.
The pilot turned back to his charge, speaking into the microphone attached to his helmet. "We'll be arriving at your new school in just a few minutes." Roran nodded and looked out the window, watching the trees zip by below. The helicopter roared over a low stone ridge, causing the bushes to shake like frightened freshmen.
Rumors travel fast. Roran pressed his forehead against the window. He fervently hoped that no one had leaked his crime to the school, or he would be as feared and hated as he had been at his previous one.
Lord, protect me.

The chopper settled down on a wide, grassy stretch outside Moon Lake High, and the marshal opened Roran's door, helping him jump down to the ground. They moved away from the helicopter in half crouches, their clothes and hair buffeted by the wind the craft's rotors kicked up. Roran looked up at the nearest building, where he would be registered for the next semester. He was aware the registration process would involve a needle that he didn't need; his mother had administered the treatment herself when he was still very young.
"Great, another scar," He muttered. The marshal glanced over at him impassively, recognizing the fact that he had spoken for the first time since liftoff but not responding. Roran ignored him, instead focusing his attention on the entryway, where a cluster of students stood, watching curiously as he approached, the burly marshal just a step ahead of him.

Cade walked back to the Purplesmoke dorms her hands in her pockets not really thinking about anything.... Vince didn't say anything after she kissed him, he more or less just walked away... And it bothered her to no end... When she hit the main enterance to the school she saw the throng of students standing around, she walked to the bottom of the steps to see what they were looking at. It seemed to be just another student, well... getting out of a chopper.
"Charlisle what's going on?" she called seeing her guide.
"Transfer student, from Sun Valley." he siad watching the guy get out of the chopper along with the pilot.
The entire group of students watched as the princepal came outside to greet him. The 3 speaking in hushed tones making it impossible for even the Redwings to hear what was going on.
"Alright everybody! Back inside! Nothing more to see!" Charlisle said he and a few other Purplesmokes ushering everyone in with a touch of wind magic if they had it.
Cade continued to look at the guy standing between the pilot and the princepal. She couldn't shake the feeling that she knew him... Mind you she spent what time she had at the moment drinking him in, she wasn't sure why but she couldn't look away.
"Miss Pryce!" Mr Gretinger called to her ushering her over.
"Yes sir?" she asked jogging up to the three of them.
"Please escort Mr Song to the infirmary then to the Rainbow dorms please."
"But sir i'm only a freshman..."
"Please Cayden." he said the lines around hius eyes standing out when he said it, "He will meet his guide tomorrow, and i know you know the school well enough to get him to the right place."
"Of course," she said then turned to the student, "Follow me."
He only nodded and followed her lead into the school.
"Thanks Cayden." he muttererd softly.
"It's Cade actually, and it's really no problem..." she said trying to ignore her heart racing at the sound of his voice, "Most of my family has gone here... I'm sorry i never got your name..."
"It's Roran." he said with a small smile as the two made their way back to the infirmary.
~*~
"You think you can handle him Howard?" the pilot asked before he returned to the chopper.
"That's what this school is for George." he said clasping the man on the shoulder and returning to his school.
~*~ not sure what to do for the convo so if ian or any one else wants to go ahead

Roran trailed along behind Cade, his thoughts far from Moon Lake.
“And this,” Cade stopped abruptly and Roran almost bumped into her. “Is the Rainbow dorm.” She turned around, the tips of her brown hair brushing his nose, and suddenly their faces were inches apart.
Roran’s breath caught in his throat. He hadn’t gotten the chance to look at the younger woman’s eyes before, and now that he had, they would haunt his dreams for the rest of his days, he was sure. Their oceanic blue irises pierced his soul, boring into his heart and uprooting his former feelings of despair.
They stood frozen like that for a millennia, as the universe slowed to a standstill. Roran felt like he was drowning, drowning in her eyes, and he didn’t want to be saved. His hands, his ever-steady hands, which he had trusted his best friend’s life to, were trembling as they never had before.
A thunderclap shattered the moment, and Roran was ripped back into reality. He flinched as he realized they had an audience. Several Rainbow freshmen had congregated nearby, making catcalls, and one of them had had the audacity to shout, “Kiss her!” Cade’s cheeks flushed red, and for some reason that made Roran very angry. He fixed the speaker with a daggerlike glare, his hand straying to the knife concealed beneath his jacket.
“That’s enough, that’s enough!” A tall girl dressed in a flowing golden robe descended on the tiny mob, and they scattered before her as she shooed them away. Having dealt with the nuisances, she turned to Roran and Cade, still trembling in the wake of their eternal moment. “Sorry, dearies. I can tell already this freshman class is going to be a handful.”
“It’s okay.” Cade was still breathing hard. Roran didn’t respond, his gaze was clouded again.
“You must be the newcomer.” The tall girl extended a hand to Roran, who stared at it for a few seconds and then carefully reached for it. “Song, isn’t it?” The boy nodded. “I can show you to your room now.” She gently touched his shoulder and steered him through the large brass double doors. Cade stood there for a moment, watching him go. He glanced over his shoulder, and then broke away from the tall woman. He stood there awkwardly for a moment, his feet shuffling slightly on the stone floor.
“May I see you later?” He finally asked hesitantly, adding, “Please?”
Cade dithered, and Roran noticed that she wasn’t meeting his eyes. After a few seconds she composed her face into a smile and looked up. “Sure.” She said lightly. “I’ll meet you tomorrow morning by the front gate.” Roran nodded, raised a hand in a lame attempt at a wave, and followed the older Rainbow.
~*~
After unpacking, Roran pulled the curtains around his bed tight and let his jacket fall off. He flopped down on his back, groaning.
“Why did I ask her that?” He mumbled to himself, pressing his hands to his face. He looked at the scars on his right forearm, lacing in a grotesque non-pattern around the circumference of his wrist. “Why would she possibly be interested in this? In a-“ He choked on his next word, “-killer like me?”

Roran couldn't sleep. Every time he closed his eyes, Cade was there, inches from his face, and his heart would begin to thunder again. After several hours, he kicked the sheets aside and left the room.
The Rainbow common room was a wide, domed chamber filled with couches and chairs. An indoor swimming pool was set in the far corner by the walls, and several flat screen LCDs hung from the ceiling. Three levels of balconies lined the walls, complete with their own entertainment devices. Roran crossed the empty chamber and stopped in front of an eight-foot wide fishtank adjacent to the pool. He stood their, watching the fish dart through the water, as his heart gradually slowed to a normal level.
"What is wrong with me?" He whispered to himself, leaning his head against the cool glass. Several golden-red fish swam up to him, experimentally poking the window between them.
"Maybe a better question would be, 'what can I do to change my situation'?"
Roran whirled, one hand snapping to his knife. On the balcony, two stories up, stood a short, chestnut skinned boy dressed all in gray. He smiled at Roran's expression.
"I could hear your heart from all the way upstairs." He grinned more widely. "You've either had quite a fright, or just come from a lovely bout of sex, and seeing as it's the first day and you were late to the party, I doubt you were in the arms of woman...or man, for that matter." The boy spoke with a slight english accent.
"Who are you?" Roran left his hand on the hilt of his knife.
"Arcturus Rainbow, at your service." The newcomer bowed mockingly. "Well, for a price."
"What..." The phrase clicked in Roran's mind. "Oh. Sorry, not interested."
"Suit yourself." Arcturus winked. "So, it's the young Purplesmoke, is it? A pretty catch, friend. You're going to have to try a little harder if you want to hang onto her, though."
Roran inhaled sharply. "What do you know about Cade?"
"Oh, you're on first name terms already? Very good, Roran." Arcturus grinned even more broadly. "In answer to your question, I know everything about Cade. Everything." He emphasized the last word, letting it roll off his tongue and hang in the air between them. "I could let you in on my private knowledge, of course, but I'd expect fair compensation in return."
Roran raised his eyebrow. "Even if I was interested, I'm sure I couldn't give you what you're looking for."
"Oh, I think you could."
"What kind of compensation?"
Arcturus leaned back, stretching his shoulders. "How does $600 dollars sound?"
Roran's mouth fell open, and it took him a few seconds to recover. "I think you're full of it." He shook his head incredulously. "Six hundred?"
Arcturus shrugged his shoulders. "Think it over, Roran. It'll be worth your while." He stood up and cracked his neck. "I'll be in touch."
Roran turned away as Arcturus disappeared through one of the side doors. It was several minutes before he realized that he had not told Arcturus his name.

sorry for the wait. Been busy with things. And sorry if I had already named someone as Mitch's roommate... I'm too lazy to go look back. ------------ Mitch heard his roommate before the other demon opened the door. Mitch was lying on the couch, reading a book with his feet hanging off the couch.
"Comfortable, Mitch?" Hayden said, walking into the living room.
"Hell yeah," Mitch replied, never taking his eyes off the book. "Would you kindly be quiet so I can read?"
He felt more than saw Hayden's frown. "Since when did you like to read? Having been in the same dorm as you for over a year, I know you and this is not what you would do."
"Do you have a problem with that, Hayden?" Mitch's voice grew deeper, hinting at his other nature.
"No. I am just merely..."
"Then shut up and leave me in peace."
The other demon stood there in shocked silence. As he turned away, he murmured, "I have a feeling that that female Silverback is the cause of all this."
That done it. Mitch flew off the couch and threw his roommate against the wall, his human form melting away to reveal his demon form. His thick claws caged Hayden's wrists against the wall as his muscular form pressed the rest of the body to the wall.
"Don't you ever speak ill of her again," the demon hissed, his entirely black eyes staring into Hayden's terrified green ones. "She is mine and if you have a problem with that, take it up with me, just leave her alone. Do I have your oath?"
Hayden gulped. "Yes, Michaeli, you have my oath that I will not speak ill of your mate."
Mitch finally grasped hold of his demon and mentally shoved the beast away, swiftly transforming back to his human form. He panted with the effort and he released his roommate, stumbling back. He shut himself in his room and he threw himself onto his bed with a growl. What the fuck was wrong with him? He answered himself before he could even think of an answer: it was Kelsey. Kelsey melted through any of his barriers and set him on fire in ways no other female would ever have done. She even enraptured his demon self.
How the hell would he ever survive this year if he was already protective of the new Silverback? ------------------
