"PIPER!"
Piper gasped, collapsing into Gideon's arms, a silver knife thrust into her stomach. She glanced over the Elder's shoulder to see Leo kneeling down by their first son, Wyatt, while the rest of her family, including Chris, stood in horror at the scene.
"Foolish woman," Gideon hissed, shoving the knife deeper. "If you knew the whole facts..."
He was cut off when Leo flew at the man, throwing the Elder across the room, hitting a bookshelf, knocking several books down on top of him. Piper's husband strode toward him, murder in his eyes, when Phoebe stopped him.
"No, Leo," she begged, tears in her eyes. "Don't kill him."
"But he nearly killed my son and he hurt my wife," the Elder growled.
"I know, but killing him isn't the answer. Since he is knocked out for the moment, we can take him to the proper authorities."
Chris nodded, his eyes still on his mother, who was now on the floor. "Yeah, Dad. He can answer to the Elders, but we need to get to Mom."
Paige was now standing by Piper, her hands scanning. "Her liver's been stabbed and she is bleeding internally. We need to get her to a hospital."
Leo ran over before the half-Whitelighter could finish. He tore the knife out of his wife and he placed his hands over her wound. Chris and Phoebe approached, with Wyatt in his brother's arms.
"Why is the wound not healing?" Chris asked, terror in his voice, as he looked at his father.
Leo panted and took his hands away, sweating. "I-I don't know," he said, his voice strangled. "Maybe there's something on the... knife..."
Piper coughed and she gurgled a little.
"We gotta hurry," Phoebe replied, wincing a little as she sensed her sister's pain. "She can't breathe and she in a lot of pain."
Leo, Chris, and Paige managed to stand Piper up. Phoebe grabbed hold of one of the Whitelighters and they all orbed to the nearest hospital.

All the Halliwells and Leo sat nervously at the hospital waiting room. Before, they had checked up on baby Chris in the maternity ward and now they waited.
"When are we gonna send Chris home?" Paige asked, breaking the silence.
"I'm not going home until I know Mom is alright," Chris said firmly. He wiped his eyes. "I have to know..."
Leo wrapped an arm around his son and pulled him close. "We understand, Chris."
Another few moments passed until a blue-clad surgeon stepped out, still wearing his surgical cap but he had no other equipment on.
"Are you the Halliwells?" he asked, looking tired.
"Yeah," Phoebe replied. They all stood up. "How is she, doctor?"
The surgeon's face showed no emotion. "Piper survived the surgery but she is still in critical condition. We repaired the tear on her liver and tried to stop as much of the blood as we could. But she did lose a lot of blood and we will be giving her bags of blood to replensh her. You can visit her now if you wish, but one at a time. We don't want to overwhelm her."
"You go, Leo," Paige said. "Then Chris can go." She passed Wyatt over to his father and watched the two leave with the surgeon.
---------------
For several days, it seemed like the Halliwells stayed permanently at the hospital. Baby Chris was released and Phoebe and Paige got the house situated, opting to stay at home with the boys while Leo and Chris stayed with Piper.
"You about ready to go home, son?" Leo asked carefully.
Chris shook his head, clinging onto his mother's limp hand. "Not yet, Dad. I want to see her wake up." His voice sounded shaky.
Leo frowned. "Chris, what's the matter?"
His second son choked back a sob. "It's just..." He sniffed. "It reminds me of when I was fourteen."
"Something happened to Piper?"
Chris nodded. "She died. I tried not to get too close to her but Grandpa, here at least, told me that I should get to know her. I was afraid that if I got close that I would forget that she was dead in my world."
His father pulled him into a hug and Chris sniffled against his father's shirt.
"Your mother will not die, Christopher Halliwell," Leo said firmly. "She is too strong to not to live. Besides, she has a family that needs her. Us."
Chris nodded and he turned back to Piper. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek. "Please come back, Mom," he whispered. "I love you so much. I-I can't lose you, not like this." He rested back against his father, soaking in the love he could feel coming off of Leo. Maybe his future world would be much different and he could finally be loved by his father.
-----------------
Piper woke up and she made a speedy recovery, much to everyone's delight. She was released from the hospital almost a week from when she woke up. Now they all were standing back at the magic school, seeing Chris off.
Phoebe and Paige hugged him again and even Leo hugged him.
"I will always love you, Chris," Leo whispered. "No matter what, you are my son as well as Piper's." He had to stand taller so he could kiss the top of Chris' head.
Chris' eyes were wet with tears as he got to his mother, who was holding Wyatt in her arms, smiling. Baby Chris was in a carrier on the floor, sleeping.
Piper hugged her son and even Wyatt managed to wrap a small arm around his brother. "I love you, Chris," she whispered.
"I love you too, Mom," he whispered. "I could always count on you while I grew up. You never played favorites."
She laughed. "I sure hope not." She kissed his cheek and looked him over for the last time. "Be safe."
Leo threw the potion and the portal opened. Chris looked back at his family, smiled happily and a tear fell down his cheek. He stepped through and he came back to see both his parents waiting for him, Wyatt standing by them. All three of them were smiling.
"Welcome home, brother," Wyatt said.
