Can I Have This Dance
a one-shot written by Mistress Wisewings
Summary: A scene from Wolf Love, the song from High School Musical 3. Remus and Caelyn share a moment near the lake during a free period.
Note: I do love the music from the High School Musical movies. I saw the third one today and it was awesome.

Caelyn Gray lightly stroked the lake's surface, admiring the ripples that her fingers made. Remus Lupin smiled and tightened his arm around her, nuzzling her neck and hair.
"I'm so lucky to have you," he murmured against her neck.
She turned to look at him, grinning. "I think it's the other way around, love. I am lucky to have you."
The werewolf chuckled. "Whatever you say."
The couple were silent for a few minutes, watching the lake. Then Caelyn stood up, Remus' arm falling from her waist. "Let's dance."
Remus glanced up at her. "I can't dance," he said with a light blush.
She laughed and helped him up. "Everyone can dance, Rem. Here, let me teach you."
"Just to warn you, I might step on your toes," Remus said, his eyes twinkling.
Her blue-gray eyes danced. "So you say." Then she opened her mouth and began to sing.
"Take my hand, take a breath
Pull me close and take one step
Keep your eyes locked on mine,
And let the music be your guide."
Remus followed her steps, nervous at first, then he picked the speed up. He too began to sing, his voice blending with hers perfectly.
"Won't you promise me (Caelyn: now won't you promise me, that you'll never forget)
We'll keep dancing (to keep dancing) wherever we go next."
They twirled and spun along the lakeside, dancing in perfect harmony.
"It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance," they sang together.
Remus began to lead Caelyn, smiling brightly at his mate. Her blue-gray danced with happiness, joy, and love and a smile spread across her lips. With his heart bursting in joy, he sang the next verse.
"Take my hand, I'll take the lead
And every turn will be safe with me
Don't be afraid, afraid to fall
You know I'll catch you threw it all."
He dipped her and she squealed, trusting her boyfriend to not drop her to the ground. She knew he was a brilliant dancer.
"And you can't keep us apart (Caelyn: even a thousand miles, can't keep us apart)
'Cause my heart is (cause my heart is) wherever you are
.
"It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance."
Remus and Caelyn were not aware of the small crowd they had watching them, which only consisted of the Marauders and Marauderettes. The two groups were smiling happily, happy for the werewolves dancing around on the grounds.
"Oh no mountains too high enough, oceans too wide
'Cause together or not, our dance won't stop
Let it rain, let it pour
What we have is worth fighting for
You know I believe, that we were meant to be," the two sang. They twirled some more and began to sing the chorus again.
"It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you (like you)
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do (way we do)
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance."
Remus spun Caelyn a few more times before dipping her and holding her there, both breathing a little faster. It was then that they heard the applause and they both blushed deeply.
"Brava!" Alex called.
"You two should be in a band," Rachel said dreamily.
"Yeah, right," Caelyn said, laughing. "I don't know where that came from. One minute we were sitting by the lake, the next we were dancing and singing."
"Maybe it's a spell," Sirius replied, his gray eyes laughing at the couple.
"Or an infectious disease," James added.
"Yeah, Jamesitis," Remus teased. "Or Siriusitis."
Everyone cracked up, including James and Sirius.
