Summary: Girl!Harry. OOTP, HBP, and DH spoilers. Lauren Potter-Zabini visits the graves of those who died during the first and second war against Voldemort.
~*Graveyard Conversations*~
Lauren Zabini, formerly Potter, scrawled out a note for her husband to see before she pulled on her traveling cloak and walked out the door. She walked as fast as a five-months pregnant woman could, walking toward the neighboring town of Godric's Hollow, now deserted and abandoned. She strolled along the streets, her eyes taking in the sight of the historic town. This is where she had lived with her parents, James and Lily Potter, before Voldemort came and changed her life forever. She shivered as she passed the house that was roped off, still standing.
The Girl-Who-Lived finally reached the graveyard where all the victim's bodies lie from the first and second war of Voldemort. She felt tears fill her eyes as she saw so many tombstones. She opened the gate and slid in, her eyes roaming over the many familiar names. There were five names in particular that caught her eye.
James Potter
1960-1981
Lily Evans-Potter
1960-1981
Sirius Black
1960-1996
Remus Lupin
1960-1998
Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin
1973-1998
She fell to her knees beside the small row, staring at the names as though somehow it would be some kind of a joke, that the five people would pop out of the ground, yelling "April Fools!"
"Mum, Dad, Sirius, Remus, and Tonks," she whispered, tracing the engraved letters of Sirius' tombstone. "Merlin I miss you all so much. Besides my friends and now my husband, you were my family. You loved me regardless of anything, not mattering if I was a Parselmouth or a main target of Voldemort." Lauren wiped her eyes. "I bet you all were there when Blaise asked me to marry him and I bet you were there for the wedding, walking me down the aisle beside Arthur Weasley, walking like proud parents. I bet you were there when I told Blaise that I was pregnant with our first child a few years ago and there when I gave birth to Jessalyn." She put her hand on her swollen stomach. "Now I'm pregnant again and I couldn't be more happier." She gave a tearful chuckle. "You should have seen Teddy's face when he heard his godmother was pregnant again. But then again, you were, weren't you?"
"Of course we were," whispered a soft voice beside her ear.
Lauren jumped, falling on her butt as she glanced up from the tombstones. Standing in front of her were the apparitions of those who she had been speaking to. Everyone still looked young and happy, smiling sadly down at her.
"You think we would miss seeing the happiest moments of your life?" Sirius asked, winking at her. "How far along are you now?"
"Five months," she replied, still in shock that they had heard her and were talking to her.
"And no, you are not dreaming," Tonks said, having read her thoughts. "We just chose this moment to reveal ourselves."
Remus slipped an arm around her waist. "We're both proud of the way you raised Teddy, both you and Blaise. You make great parents, even to little Jessalyn."
"Never doubt that we aren't watching you," Lily said softly. "Though you may never see us, we see you."
"We will always be with you, Lauren," James added. "Inside your heart." His hand floated just a few inches above her beating heart.
She took in a breath and exhaled, still staring at the ghosts. She couldn't believe this was happening.
"Lauren?" called the voice of her husband.
Lauren glanced up at Blaise, who stood by the gate of the graveyard. He was staring at the apparitions in front of her, his mouth open.
"Hello Blaise," Remus greeted, smiling.
"What... how's this possible?" he asked, walking toward his wife and pulling her up.
"She came here and we decided to show ourselves," James replied, looking amused. "We are happy, though, that you make our child happy. She couldn't've found a better husband."
The former Slytherin's cheeks flushed a little. "Thanks." He turned back to Lauren. "We should be heading home, darling, before it storms."
Lauren nodded, her eyes still on her deceased family.
"Remember," Sirius' voice called just as they began to fade. "We will always be with you and that we love you."
Blaise and Lauren watched as the apparitions faded into nothing and started to walk back to their village, feeling happier. Lauren finally had her closure she needed.
