Chapter Fourteen
"REMUS JONATHAN LUPIN!"
James, Sirius, and Peter turned to look at Remus, who was trying to hide himself behind his book. They wondering what he had done to piss off Alex.
Lily trailed behind Alex, looking extremely angry. They stood in front of the werewolf, who began to sink into the chair he was sitting in.
"How dare you do that to Caelyn! She doesn't deserve to be left like that!" Alex yelled.
"She doesn't deserve to be with me!" Remus defended. "She would only be in more danger..."
"Wait a second," said Sirius, his eyes narrowing. "You broke up with Caelyn because you still think that she is in danger while she was with you?"
Remus just wanted to disappear into the cushions of the armchair he was in. "It's true. If she wasn't with me, then she would be perfectly safe."
"Oh no she wouldn't," came a voice from the portrait hole. Everyone looked at Rachel, who had her arms crossed. "I am not going to elaborate any more, as you broke up with her and therefore have no more interest in her." She raised a hand to stroke her chin. "I wonder if she will ever notice the looks she has been getting from others..."
At that moment, Remus saw red. He leapt up from the chair, book sent flying, and his hand went to her throat. He knew that hands were grabbing at him but he didn't care at the moment.
"No one touches her!" he growled.
Rachel only smirked. "But she was off the market until a certain someone broke off their relationship and let her go back to being single. I know several men who would love to be with her."
"She is MINE, meaning she belongs to no one but me."
"Oh? How does that work when you are no longer with her?"
"It just is."
"I see." She looked thoughtful. "Anyway, could you please let me down? I think I feel a little light-headed from being cut off from my oxygen."
Remus put her down and she began to rub her throat absentmindedly. Rachel began to walk toward the entrance of the Tower, only to turn back and send him a hateful glare.

Caelyn barely knew that she was no longer out in the snow and in her warm bed. She didn't care anymore. Her world seemed to be crashing in on her ever since Remus broke up with her. Her own mate.
She squeezed her eyes as a few more tears escaped from her hold. She didn't want to cry anymore, as it made her face reality much sooner than she wanted.
"Lynn?" There was a sound of a chair scraping off to her right. "I know that this must hurt a whole lot more than any one of us can imagine, but you have to let it go. You need to keep on living. You still have me, Lily, and Alex. Also, don't forget Severus, Regulus, Marianna, and everyone else that you talk to."
Caelyn, though, didn't want to let it go. It still hurt too much.
