I'm sure they will in due time. But for now... here is the next chapter.
Chapter Seventeen: (Whoa! Seventeen already?)
Caelyn decided to stay back when the next Hogsmeade trip came up. Most of her friends went because they wanted to get out and enjoy the sunshine before the spring rains ruined the warm weather.
She holed herself up in the library again, writing all of her essays behind stacks of books. She was currently writing her History of Magic essay, which was about how wizards went from using wandless magic to now using a wand to channel their magic. Caelyn had always wondered how wizards and witches began using wands to do magic, as young children who have magic use wandless magic (even if it was their powers manifesting themselves).
"Why are you doing your homework when you could be outside?"
She jumped about a foot off her chair and turned a glare onto Regulus' smirking form. He was holding a couple of books in one hand and a roll of parchment and a quill in the other.
"And what about you?"
He shrugged. "Didn't feel like going out. Mind if i sit here too?"
"Go ahead. There should be enough table left."
Regulus grinned. "I sure hope so or you would have to lose some of your books."
Caelyn shot him a look. "You wouldn't dare."
"Would I?"
The two had a staring contest before Caelyn adverted her gaze down to her essay. She sighed.
"Are you sure you aren't doing this to not think about Lupin?"
"Not anymore. I am slowly getting better on not thinking about him. I still have moments when I think back to our relationship but otherwise I don't think of him anymore. So," she grinned at him, "now you and Severus can stop trying to distract me from doing my essays."
The Slytherin looked hurt. "We don't distract you from doing your homework. For awhile we thought you were trying to bury yourself in your work to the point where you forgot to sleep and eat. Severus and I are only concerned about your well-being."
She felt a stab of guilt. They were only making sure she was alright and now she was jumping over them. "I'm sorry, Reg. I didn't mean to snap at you. It's just.... I already have my housemates making sure I eat something at all meals and also make sure that I do go to sleep at night. I don't need to add two Slytherins onto the load."
"I understand. I have a feeling that your roommates, especially Marianna, feel the way we do. They were concerned when you stopped coming to meals and you continued to work in the library alone. I'm sure that if you tell them that you aren't burying yourself in your work and that you can eat and sleep on your own that they will back down."
Caelyn let out a smile. "Thanks for letting me vent a little and for the advice."
Regulus put a hand on top of hers. "You are welcome. Besides, I don't have many friends, as you know. You and Sev are my only true friends and you both have helped me over the years."
"It's what friends do," she said. "We help each other out when we need it."
He smiled, squeezed her hand, and started to flip through one of the books he set down earlier. Caelyn returned to her own essay.
They spent the rest of the day there, occasionally talking quietly when they took a break. They finally had to quit when Madam Pince, the librarian, shooed them out so they could go to dinner. ~*~*~*~ Severus smiled when he noticed Regulus and Caelyn walk in together and eventually split so they could go to their respective tables.
"Where were you two?" he asked the younger Slytherin.
"In the library." Regulus caught the look on Severus' face. "She was doing fine, Sev. She told me that she was doing better and already had enough pestering from her own roommates."
Both of them glanced over at the Ravenclaw table and sure enough, Marianna was watching what Caelyn put on her plate.
"I bet that has to be nerve-wracking," Severus muttered.
"Anyway, Caelyn seems to be doing better. She said she is no longer hiding behind books and is hardly thinking about Lupin at all."
"I still want to hurt him for what he did to her," the older boy growled.
"Me too, Sev," said Regulus. "Remember, she is not just your friend."
Severus grinned at his young friend. "Whatever you say." ~*~*~*~

*bursts into a fit of giggles*
Chapter Eighteen
Caelyn and the rest of the fifth year Ravenclaws holed themselves inside the common room to study for the O.W.L.s. The same went for the seventh year Ravenclaws, as they had their N.E.W.T.s. The rest of Ravenclaw studied for their final exams of the year.
Meanwhile, Sirius Black yawned as he tried to continue studying. Remus was already a lost cause, as his nose was buried inside his books, but the other three Marauders looked bored too.
"We already know this stuff," James exclaimed. "C'mon Padfoot, Wormtail, let's leave the professor here and go outside." ~*~*~*~*~ Regulus and Severus sat out by the lakes, trying to enjoy the last bit of fresh air before the two-week exams began. They knew better than to try to pull Caelyn out of Ravenclaw Tower, so they went by themselves.
"I think it's great that she's doing better," Regulus said, leaning back. "Sure, she still studies, but at least it's not to the extreme levels she was at."
"Yeah I'm glad too."
Regulus stared at his friend before smiling. "You love her, don't you?"
"Of course! She's my friend," Severus replied.
The younger Slytherin snickered. "That's not what I meant. I mean, do you love her?"
Severus let out a sigh. "I do. I think I fell in love with her about the time that Lupin asked her out."
"I remember that. You wouldn't stop glaring at him."
"Oh sod off."
Regulus snickered again. "Sorry, mate. Don't feel like it." ~*~*~*~ "It's perfect! Now all we need is to wait until it's dark."
Peter rubbed his hands together eagerly. They would finally pull one up against Snape. It was sad that James had no idea what they were about to do.
"Let's go back inside, guys," James said, catching up to the other two. ~*~*~*~ Severus and Regulus began to walk inside when they accidently ran into Black and Pettigrew, who were on their own.
"Watch where you're going Snape!" Black growled.
"I think it's you who needs to watch where you are going. After all, you can't really hide that big head anywhere and it makes your eyes look so small."
Regulus smirked. "C'mon Severus. We don't need to be around these Gryffindorks."
"Why are you so fascinated with Remus and where he is?"
Severus stopped in his tracks. He had hoped that no one knew that he was watching Lupin over the years, wondering why the boy left for a few days of every month.
"That is none of your business, Black." he hissed.
"If you are so intrigued, why don't you find out yourself? There is a willow tree that stands guards over where he goes. Prod the knot with a stick and it freezes. He'll be there tonight."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Just do it if you are so curious." With that, Black and Pettigrew left. Just as Severus began to move again, he was nearly knocked over when Potter dashed past them.
"Are you going to do it?" Regulus asked, pulling his friend up.
"I don't know." ~*~*~*~ Severus paced in the empty Slytherin common room. Sure, he was intrigued as to where Lupin went every month, but he was not sure if Black was completely credible. Heaving a sigh, he decided that he would go check it out just in case.
He sticked to the shadows as he sneaked around the Prefects who patrolled the hallways. He even managed to sneak past Caelyn, who was stationed out by the Great Hall. Severus smirked at that.
The Slytherin found the willow very quickly, as it was not something to miss easily. The branches swayed back and forth but they looked rather wicked. He saw a tree branch lying a few feet from him. He picked it up and pressed the knot he found on a low-hanging branch. Instantly, the tree froze. Apparently Black has had experience with this tree, he thought.
Severus then glanced a large hole at the base of the trunk. He slipped through and found himself in a dark tunnel. There were growling noises and it sounded like someone was howling. I didn't know Lupin was so much like an animal. He continued down the tunnel, drawn toward the animalistic noises that were growing louder as he neared.
"SNAPE!"
Someone was pulling him back, away from the noises. Since it was so dark, Severus had no idea who was pulling him back. But at the moment, he didn't care. Just before he was pulled out of the tunnnel, he glimpsed a large gray wolf, snarling and growling.
He gulped in the fresh air as whoever had saved him shoved him aside. Lupin was a werewolf? Oh, that should've been so obvious. He always leaves around the full moon and he looks so sick when he returns.
"What were you thinking?!"
Severus glanced up, looking at his savior. His jaw dropped. It was Potter.
"Why did you even go down there? I mean, bloody hell, I thought you wouldn't do it." He ran his hands through his messy hair and began to mutter to himself. "Merlin, I am so going to kill Sirius when I get my hands on him. Remus could've killed Snape and be pressed with murder charges. He would be executed for sure!"
Severus got to his feet and slowly walked away, feeling dazed and tired at the same time. ~*~*~*~ there we go. I finally managed to incoporate this scene into the story as I had wanted to.

onward!
Chapter Nineteen
Caelyn was out patrolling some more when she heard raised voices coming from around the Entrance Hall. Frowning, she used her heightened hearing to listen in, as she was not too far from them.
"What were you thinking, Sirius?! Snape could've been killed! It's a good thing that Remus doesn't usually remember anything after he transforms or else he would be really depressed. It's enough that he had to break off his relationship with Caelyn but.. this would totally break him."
"I-I was just trying to have some fun!"
"Yeah? Well... you just had your fun. And your fun lost you your friends' trust in you."
"Wait... James...."
Caelyn stood stiffly, ready to dock points off for the boys being out of bed. Inside, she was reeling. Sirius had sent Severus to find out who Remus was and Remus almost got him?
"Ten points from Gryffindor for being out outside of curfew," she said loudly. "I will escort you to your common room."
James and Sirius appeared from the shadows. James looked tired but anger still shined in his eyes and Sirius looked defeated. She sighed and lead them up to their common room.
"So... how're you doing?" James asked softly.
"Alright. I wish I wasn't on Prefect duty tonight so I could get some rest before the O.W.L.s tomorrow but no such luck. How about you, James?"
"I'm fine."
They were silent.
"Just out of curiosity, what were you two doing out of bed? You do know that the Dark Lord is out there."
"I lost something," Sirius mumbled. "I didn't realize it until it got dark out. I ushered James to go with me."
Caelyn knew that that wasn't the truth, but she had to go with it. "And did you find what you were looking for?"
"Yes."
"Let me see."
She mentally smirked at the flash of panic that appeared in Sirius' eyes before he pulled out a Dungbomb. She let out a sigh.
"Marauder til the end, eh?"
"Always." Sirius looked at James when he said this.
The group approached the portrait of the Fat Lady that led into Gryffindor common room. "I better not see you boys out again tonight or else I will have to report you. I'll let you off the hook this time but next time, I won't. Understand?"
"Yes, Lynn," the boys chorused before they entered the portrait.
"Boys," she muttered, shaking her head.
"You said it, girl," the Fat Lady replied. ~*~*~*~ To say that Remus was furious was an understatement. Sirius sat with his head hung as the boy yelled at Sirius. James had put a Privacy charm over the four of them as this happened. It wouldn't do to have the entire school know of Remus' lycanthropy.
James sighed. ~*~*~*~ i'm gonna go take a nap I don't feel well

I am happy that you guys like this story, even with all of the heartache that is coming up once again. I will finally end this story with my version of what happened on Halloween of 1981, then I can go back to Webs.
Chapter Twenty
Caelyn was already at her table when she saw the Marauders, excluding Sirius, entered the Great Hall. She frowned a little and promised to go find Sirius if he didn't show up to breakfast. *~*~*~*~ Rachel knew that she was being stared at. She had known it since she hit puberty last year, when she had come into her Veela genes. And she knew that everyone that was staring at her would be willing to be fed upon soon enough.
No one knew that Veelas had to feed, almost like a vampire had to feed in order to stay alive but with differences. Veelas had to feed by having sex and the sex kept their hunger from coming forth and transforming them into their natural form.
And to think that people know why we take on our natural forms at certain times, she thought, amused. Rachel turned back to her eggs when she felt it. The smoldering stare that stood out from the rest. She could feel her insides clench with anticipation. She knew that this stare came from one of her mates, as she had two, but she had no idea who it was coming from. The Veela wanted to smack her head against the table in frustration. ~*~*~*~ Alex and Lily looked surprised when they didn't see Sirius come in with the other Marauders. Sure, they knew something had happened the night before but it was odd to not see the eldest Black son amongst the group.
"Ready for the O.W.L.s guys?" Lily asked tenatively, reaching across the table for some more bacon.
"As ready as we can be," James replied tiredly, not really putting anything on his plate.
"Where's Sirius?" Alex asked as the silence grew amongst them.
"He's not feeling well," James growled, his fists clenching.
Something is definitely wrong, the two Gryffindor Marauderettes thought to themselves. ~*~*~*~*~ Caelyn slipped unnoticed from the Great Hall and up to Gryffindor Tower. As a Prefect, she knew all of the passwords into each House common room, which was a relief to the werewolf in this case.
"Butterscotch," she said and the Fat Lady slid open.
Sirius was sitting in an armchair by the fire, his legs tucked in. He looked worn out and tired, with his face covered in dried tear tracks.
"Sirius?" she asked softly, slowly approaching him.
"Mmm." he replied, not moving an inch.
She slid into an armchair next to him. "Are you okay? I didn't see you down at breakfast."
"Not hungry."
The werewolf sighed. Then she got an idea. "Why don't we go for a walk outside before our exams start?"
It took Caelyn a few minutes to convince Sirius to get up. Soon they were outside, sitting down by the lake. At first, the two were silent, watching the giant squid surface to bask in the sunlight.
"I didn't lose something last night," Sirius spoke. He stared out at the lake, his fingers drawing symbols in the sand. "Before it got dark out, Peter and I went out to get some air. Our brains were fit to explode under all of the studying. Then we saw Snape and my brother and decided to play a prank." He took in a breath and looked at Caelyn. "What I might say next will probably scare you or something but... Remus, your ex, is a werewolf."
"I know."
His eyes widened. "How?"
She snorted. "Oh come on, Sirius. I was in love with Remus since third year. Do you think I wouldn't notice that he leaves for a few days every month? That he comes back in the hospital wing with scratches and bite marks?"
Sirius blushed. "Oh." He drew another figure in the sand before he continued. "Anyway, Snape has always had this obsession of where Remus went every month. No one knows why. And last night was the full moon. So Peter and I thought we would tell him where Remus spent his nights and he could find out himself."
"That's very dangerous," she said, nearly growling. She knew what it was like. Werewolves lose their human consciousness after the transformation is complete and they would never remember what happened after that. It would torture Remus if he had found out that he committed murder.
Sirius ducked his head. "I know that. James and Remus already drilled it into my head this morning. I could be expelled. I could go to Azkaban for assisting in murder, et cetera. But anyway, I told Snape how to get in and he managed to do it, until James had heard from Peter what happened and saved his life."
"Thank Merlin James was there to stop him from going further," Caelyn growled. "Let's just hope that Severus didn't glimpse..."
"I think he did," he replied, flushing.
Caelyn drew in her anger, knowing that Sirius didn't need it. Instead, she put an arm around him. "You may have done wrong, but at least you acknowledge it. Most people try to ignore it, hoping that it will simply go away. Unfortunately, it always comes back to bite them in the ass."
Sirius smirked. "What would the others say if they heard that you have a potty mouth?"
"I would deny it," she said, smirking back. She dropped it in favor of a smile. "Come on, we have exams to do."
"You just had to say it!"
She laughed and pulled him up, casting cleaning charms on their robes before they walked up to the castle. ~*~*~*~ I just wanted to cheer Sirius up a little. And he'll be back to his old self when the Marauders forgive him and let him back in.
